Eram interesată de subiect întrucît l-am cunoscut personal pe Marcel Iancu, prieten din copilărie cu tatăl meu. Volumul porneşte de la trei întîlniri, din 1976, 1978 şi 1980, pe care Geo Şerban, pe atunci redactor la revista Secolul 20, le-a avut cu Marcel Iancu, la domiciliul său din Tel Aviv sau la atelierul său din Ein Hod, satul artiştilor înfiinţat la iniţiativa lui Iancu pe povîrnişurile vestice ale muntelui Carmel, la sud de Haifa.
